Brass Cable Glands Manufacturer
Custom brass cable glands manufactured in Jamnagar, India. Metric, PG, NPT, and BSP thread types. Natural and nickel-plated. IP54 to IP68 variants. ISO 9001:2015 certified exporter.
Pixon Metals manufactures brass cable glands for a wide range of industrial, commercial, and infrastructure electrical applications. Cable glands secure and seal cables as they enter enclosures, junction boxes, panels, and electrical equipment — providing mechanical retention, strain relief, and environmental sealing.
We supply cable glands in natural brass and nickel-plated brass, across four major thread standards, and with sealing options suited to IP54 through IP68 protection requirements. All components are manufactured to buyer drawings or standard dimensional requirements in our Jamnagar facility.
Thread Standards for Brass Cable Glands
| Thread Type | Standard | Geographic Use | Common Sizes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metric (M-thread) | EN 62444 / IEC 62444 | Europe, India, global | M12 × 1.5 to M63 × 1.5 |
| PG (Panzergewinde) | DIN 40430 (legacy) | Europe, India (legacy industrial) | PG7 to PG48 |
| NPT | ASME B1.20.1 | USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia | ⅛" NPT to 2" NPT |
| BSP (BSPT / BSPP) | ISO 7/1 / ISO 228-1 | UK, Australia, India, Middle East | ⅛" BSP to 2" BSP |
Sealing and IP Protection Ratings
IP (Ingress Protection) ratings per IEC 60529 describe the level of sealing against dust and water. Cable gland design — specifically the sealing ring material and compression method — determines achievable IP rating.
- IP54 — Protected against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction; standard for indoor industrial panels
- IP65 — Dust-tight; protected against water jets; suitable for outdoor enclosures
- IP66 — Dust-tight; protected against powerful water jets
- IP67 — Dust-tight; protected against temporary immersion up to 1 m
- IP68 — Dust-tight; protected against continuous immersion; depth per manufacturer specification
The IP rating of a cable gland depends on the sealing ring, locknut torque, and cable diameter fit. Specify your required IP rating and cable outer diameter when ordering.
Finishes Available
- Natural brass — standard option; suitable for dry or mild environments
- Nickel plated (5–15 μm electrodeposited) — improved corrosion resistance; suitable for marine, coastal, and humid environments; also used for EMC/screened cable gland bodies
- Stainless steel options available for highly corrosive environments (on request)
Applications
- Electrical panels and control cabinets
- Junction boxes and distribution enclosures
- Industrial motors and drives
- Outdoor and weatherproof enclosures
- Solar PV and wind energy installations
- Marine and offshore equipment
- ATEX / Ex-rated zone equipment (hazardous area, on request)
- Renewable energy and rail infrastructure
How to Specify Cable Glands
When submitting an RFQ for brass cable glands, provide the following:
- Thread type and size (e.g., M20×1.5 Metric, ½" NPT, PG16)
- Cable outer diameter range (the gland must compress around the cable)
- Required IP protection rating
- Material: natural brass or nickel-plated brass
- Quantity and any packaging requirements
- Applicable standard reference (e.g., IEC 62444, BS 6121, IS 12943)
Frequently Asked Questions
What thread types do your brass cable glands support?
We manufacture cable glands with Metric (M-thread per EN/IEC 62444), PG (DIN 40430), NPT (ASME B1.20.1), and BSP (ISO 7/1 tapered, ISO 228-1 parallel) thread entries.
What IP ratings can your cable glands achieve?
Depending on sealing ring selection and cable diameter, our cable glands support IP54 through IP68 per IEC 60529. The IP rating depends on correct installation — the cable OD must be within the gland's rated cable diameter range to achieve the specified sealing.
Do you offer nickel-plated cable glands?
Yes. Nickel-plated brass cable glands (5–15 μm electrodeposited nickel) are a standard option. Nickel plating improves corrosion resistance for outdoor, coastal, and humid environments, and is also used where EMC screening continuity requires a consistent metallic surface.
What cable diameter ranges do you support?
Cable gland sizing is typically matched to the thread entry size and sealing ring range. For example, an M20×1.5 cable gland typically accepts cable OD from approximately 6 to 12 mm. Specify your cable OD when ordering so we can confirm the correct size.
Can you manufacture cable glands to IEC 62444 or BS 6121?
We manufacture cable glands dimensionally consistent with IEC 62444 (metric thread cable glands) and BS 6121 (the British standard for cable glands). Full type-tested and certified cable glands require third-party certification which we do not independently provide, but we can manufacture components dimensionally to these standards.
